First Lady Sibel Tatar participated in the ‘Four Board Leader Training Courses’ organised jointly by the TRNC Girl Scout Association of which she is the Honorary President, and Cappadocia Scouting and Youth Clubs
In her speech at the event held in Gazimağusa, First Lady Sibel Tatar expressed gratitude and respect to everyone who contributed to work of the TRNC Girl Scout Association, since its establishment in 1969.
Mrs Tatar added that she was honoured to take part in such an event that has been jointly organised by the TRNC Girl Scout Organisation and Cappadocia Scouting and Youth Clubs.
“SCOUTING IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR THE PHYSICAL, SOCIAL AND MENTAL DEVELOPMENT OF YOUTH AND CHILDREN"
Sibel Tatar pointed out that scouting, which is open to everyone on a voluntary basis, regardless of nationality, language and religion, is a non-political educational youth organisation, and drew attention to the importance of scouting in terms of the physical, social and mental development of young people and children.
“Scouting adopts the principle of raising every young individual as an active person with social responsibility, emphasising that whilst scouting, individuals become integrated and appreciative of the environment and nature, and learn to act with a collective mind,” Mrs Tatar said.
CALL TO CHILDREN: “JOIN SCOUT ORGANISATIONS”
Sibel Tatar stated that she was very impressed when she read the scout oath and its genre, and once again she perceived the importance of scouting in the upbringing of young people and children. She called on children to join scout organisations and stated that families should support this.
Reiterating that the purpose and the training given in scouting “contributes greatly to the children's upbringing as individuals who love their nation, country, nature, animals and people”, Mrs Tatar pointed out the need for scouting organisations to continue their work by “building on successes and becoming stronger”.
“SCOUTING WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR YOUTH AND CHILDREN”
In her speech, Sibel Tatar also referred to the quotation of the founder of the Republic of Turkey and Great Leader, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, for underlying the importance of scouting, where she said: “Scouting, which is of vital importance in terms of defending the homeland, is equally important in terms of individual and national education. Scouting is spreading and expanding in all governments as if they are competing with each other, and educating its members intellectually, morally, scientifically and physically".
The First Lady added that she feels happy to express her belief that the Four Board Leader Educators Courses will contribute positively to the development of many young people and children.
Sibel Tatar thanked and congratulated the head and officials of the TRNC Girl Scout Association and Cappadocia Scouting and Youth Clubs, and wished all the participating scouts success in their endeavours.
