Gül Güresun was born on 27 December 1966 in Baf. She completed her primary and secondary education in Güzelyurt, and graduated from Kurtuluş Lycee. She graduated from Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Public Administration, Ankara Middle East Technical University in 1990 and she completed master’s degree program at International Relations/European Communities, Ankara University in 1995.
She first appointed as a Political Affairs Specialist at the Ministry of Defense in Turkey in 1992. She worked on bilateral defense issues between Turkey and NATO, EU and third countries. In 1999 she was appointed as Special Officer/Concept Specialist at the Turkish General Staff. During her term of office, she worked on NATO and EU relations. She was the member of Board of Directors of the Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation, Prinçsan Inc. between the years of 2000-2003. During her term of office at the General Staff, she completed courses on ‘Public Diplomacy’ organized by General Secretariat of the National Security Council in 1999, and ‘Planning, Programing and Budgeting System’ and ‘Risk Management’ organized by the Ministry of Defense in 2001.
She is working as a Special Advisor on Defense at the Office of the President in TRNC since 2006. In her scope of task, she was the member of the working group on Security and Guaranties and she is still the Chairman of the Technical Committee on Crisis Management and the member of Technical Committee on Crime and Crime Related Issues. During her term of office at the Office of the President, she completed the courses on Policies of Small and Medium Enterprises (Sme), Education and Agriculture during the integration period to EU, organized by Lefke European University in 2007.
She speaks fluent English and married with a child.
