The Bicommunal Technical Committee on Gender Equality, established in 2015 at the intensive negotiation process which was started by the election of the President Mr Mustafa Akıncı, was established in order to suggest ways of integrating gender equality perspective, to form a mechanism for bringing gender equality specific and sensitive issues to the forefront, to provide input as to what needs to be borne in mind from gender equality perspective in the framework of the settlement and to provide specific recommendations on ensuring social gender equality in Cyprus in case of a possible solution.

The Bicommunal Technical Committee on Education, established in 2015 at the intensive negotiation process which was started by the election of the President Mr Mustafa Akıncı, was established to review existing practices of education in Cyprus, to undertake new relevant research on how education can contribute to develop a peace culture, to promote contact and co-operation between students, educators and educational organizations from the two communities and to recommend best policy options that will allow co-ordination between the two educational systems in a future federal united Cyprus.
