BÜLENT GÜNKUT
He was born on 3 June 1954 in Larnaca. After his primary & secondary education in Larnaca, he graduated from Nicosia Turkish High School (1972). After graduating from Ege University (1977) with Industrial Engineering Degree, he worked as Engineer in Cyprus Turkish Industry Holding Enterprises (1979 & 1986). He continued his career as high school teacher (1987 & 2011) about 25 years then he retired.
Günkut Agency, which he is the founder, is the first Turkish modelling agency established in Cyprus in 1980 . He proudly broken grounds with its efforts in this direction by creating a sector that does not exist in the island during this time. His radio programme “5 Tea with Günkut”, which was celebrating its 26 th year in BayrakFm.
He established “Youth of North Cyprus” contest (1982). He was the founder & chairman of Miss North Cyprus Organization which is the official beauty pageant of TRNC has been elected with “beauty with purpose” mission (1984). Miss North Cyprus organization was organized to create social awareness under the sponsorship of foundations such as TRNC Prime Ministry Anti-Drugs Commission and Cyprus Turkish Women’s Union. He is founding president of Mr. North Cyprus organization, longest running social responsibility project of TRNC, which has been organized on behalf of the Association for Helping Cancer Patients since 1995. Despite the embargoes, his first international representation for the promotion of TRNC started in 1987, with the Asian Pacific Beauty Contest held in Hong Kong, and has reached the present day. He has taken part in more than 90 international organizations around the world as North Cyprus within 40 years.
He has been married with his wife Zehra Günkut since 1981 and has two sons. He continues his career with support of his family. “Everything is for TRNC” is his ideology.
