He was born on March 17, 1964 in Nicosia. He is married and has 3 daughters. He completed Primary Education in Şehit Tuncer Primary School, Secondary School was in Şht. Hüseyin Ruso Secondary School and completed High School in Nicosia Turkish High School in 1982, and subsequently received training on language education and textile industry and production in England. As a branch of family companies consisting of various commercial branches, in 1987 bringing the world's leading fabric brands, he successfully continued the stores he opened in Girne until 1998 and got married in the same year and settled in Istanbul.
In 1988, he was one of the first founders of the TRNC Fenerbahce Association. Between 1990 and 1992, he took part in the Young Businessmen Association. In 1997, he served as the Founding Vice President of Fatih Yavru Vatan Lions Club for one year.He worked for nine years at a well-established British textile company in Istanbul and for three years he worked as a senior manager at Turkey's leadingmen's ready-to-wear brand, and as an image consultant obureaucrats/businessmen. He provided consultancy to institutions that are engaged in textile production abroad, enabling them to take place in third country markets. He returned to Cyprus in 2010, found senior management positions in private companies and is still working in a company.
Şevket SONGUR, who has been closely interested in football and watersports since his youth, flew the TRNC flag in the National arena with the official membership of the TRNC Football tennis Federation, of which he was the founding president, to FIFTA (International Football tennis Federation) in 2009. Between 2013 and 2017, he was elected as "FIFTA Vice President", and in 2017, he wa selected "FIFTA President" with the support of all member countries. The four-year presidency will continue until 2025.
