First Lady, Sibel Tatar, opens ‘Miniature Cyprus Doors’ exhibition, prepared by the Contemporary Folk Dances Association under the leadership of Tanju Hastunç
The opening of the exhibition was attended by the First Lady, Sibel Tatar, as well as the Minister of National Education and Culture, Olgun Amcaoğlu, the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Nazım Çavuşoğlu, and the Minister of Transportation and Public Works, Resmiye Eroğlu Canaltay.
HASTUNÇ: “WE STARTED WITH OUR TURKISH CYPRIOT IDENTITY ADHERING TO TURKISH CYPRIOT CULTURAL VALUES”
In his speech at the inauguration of the exhibition, Tanju Hastunç stated that they set out with the project with their Turkish Cypriot identities adhering to the Turkish Cypriot cultural values which they display on every platform. Mr Hastunç underlined the importance of making the inner wall part of Lefkoşa an attraction for tourism, adding that President Ersin Tatar and the individuals and politicians participating in the exhibition are of the same opinion and emphasised the importance of having the building of their Association in this locality.
Mr Hastunç noted that after the ‘Miniature Cyprus Gates’ project, they are working on a project that includes civilisations in Cyprus led by our ancestors, the Ottomans, folk costumes and military characters, and that they are also working on turning the works into a museum as a third project.
Mr Hastunç, who thanked those who contributed to the preparation of the building of the Association and the exhibition, stated that they doubled into 100 pieces the 50 projects they had prepared in 40x60cm dimensions of which they will be donating 50 to the Ministry of National Education and Culture -- to be exhibited.
SİBEL TATAR: “AS A TOURISM BASED COUNTRY, WE MUST ENSURE THE NUMBER OF MUSEUMS INCREASE”
First Lady, Sibel Tatar stated at the opening of the exhibition that she has brought the “love and warm greetings of President Ersin Tatar, who is currently in Antalya and participating in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum”.
Mrs Tatar, praising the exhibition and the “hard work” of the organisers and contributors, said: “We see a source of culture here. This exhibition is a very important attribute in showing the richness of our culture.”
Mrs Tatar congratulated the ministers and everyone who contributed to the project, especially Tanju Hastunç, and added that the exhibition is also an open-air museum. The First Lady noted that she thinks that “a museum that exhibits this project would suit Lefkoşa. . .which is not only the capital city of our country, but also an important cultural centre and our main artery”.
Stating that the number of museums in the TRNC is few, Mrs Tatar emphasised the importance of increasing their numbers “which is also needed because it will allow us to display the richness of our history and culture and add to the number of attractions for visiting tourists”.

AMCAOĞLU: “IT IS IMPORTANT FOR THE WORKS OF OUR ARTISTS TO REACH DISTANT CHANNELS”
In his speech at the opening of the exhibition, Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu emphasised the importance of keeping the culture and art alive, delivering the works of our artists to distant places, and concurred with the First Lady that showing the present state of the TRNC and the cultural values of our past to the tourists visiting our country is important.
Mr Amcaoğlu emphasised the importance of protecting artists in the cultural sense and being able to follow the developments in the sense of art, and said that as the Ministry of National Education and Culture, it is their duty to carry out studies in order to eliminate the deficiencies in the cultural sense.
