Northern Cyprus Women's Organisations Network is established
A new network of organisations has been established under the auspices of First Lady Sibel Tatar with the objective of tackling the issues faced by women in the country.
The Northern Cyprus Women's Organisations Network was established on November 25, which coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, with the participation of 40 out of 42 women's organisations in the TRNC.
A statement by the Northern Cyprus Women's Organisations Network said:
"We came together to be the voice of our women, who are still exposed to all kinds of violence and abuse due to an outdated approach, who are excluded from economic and social life in violation of human rights. We are here to support women and to make women stronger. We believe that there are many people who will walk with us on the road we have started, our website of the Northern Cyprus Women's Organizations Network (kadinorgutleri.gov.ct.tr) has been launched with the aim of empowering women."
