Our Vaccination Certificates can be used on trips to England as from January 10, 2022
The UK Government has announced that as of January 10, 2022, Vaccine Certificates issued by our Ministry of Health will be valid for passengers entering the country, provided that they received a vaccine approved by the UK authorities.
The British Government announced the new decisions taken within the scope of Covid-19 measures on its official website and informed our Presidency through the British High Commission that the certificates issued by our Ministry of Health will be valid when entering the UK.
As it will be recalled, people who were vaccinated in the country had faced difficulties in terms of being able to travel freely internationally and to the UK, as soon as effective global vaccination efforts had commenced. Intense diplomatic initiatives were taken by President Ersin Tatar and our Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in order to overcome the difficulties.
In addition, as a result of the initiatives taken through the Technical Committee on Health and Technical Committee Coordinators with the approval of President Ersin Tatar and Greek Cypriot Leader Nicos Anastasiades, consensus was reached on synchronisation of Covid-19 measures between the two sides and the opening of all border crossings. This had also included reaching an agreement on the validity of the vaccination certificates of both sides.
In this regard, we commend the decision taken by the British Government and want to share the good news to our People that the vaccination certificates given by our Ministry of Health can be used in their travels to England.
We will pursue our diplomatic effort in coordination with our Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the reflection of this positive development on travels to Europe and other relevant third countries.
