Muslu Akgüney was born on September 3, 1976, in Kyrenia. After completing his primary education at Alsancak Primary School and his secondary and high school education at Lapta Yavuzlar High School, he graduated from the Eastern Mediterranean University School of Electrical and Electronics in 1998. In 2014, he graduated from the Public Relations, Promotion, and Advertising Department at Anadolu University’s Open Education Faculty in Eskişehir, which he started in 2011. He graduated from the Public Administration Department at the same university in 2020. In 2023, he completed his master's degree in Educational Administration at the International Final University.
During his academic years, he received various training on computer programmes. During this period, he participated in many voluntary social activities, charity concerts, and events to broaden his experiences and areas of expertise.
He completed his military service between 1998 and 2000 and started his professional career in the private sector in 2000. He received many domestic and international trainings related to his profession and personal political development.
He is one of the founders of the Aydınlık Yarınlar Hareketi (Movement for Bright Tomorrows), established in May 2008, which is active in social, political, environmental, and international lobbying fields and he served as the Vice- President and Project Manager of the association. He is also one of the founders of the Mediterranean Policy Center, a think tank.
Under the roof of the association, he has actively participated in projects such as tree planting, blood donation, waste battery collection, the use of energy-saving bulbs, various charity and aid campaigns, and projects for stray animals. He served as a member of the Alsancak Municipal Council from 2006 to 2010. Between 2000 and 2012, he participated in many international professional fairs, seminars, and events in various countries around the world.
In 2011, he participated in the "International Visitor Leadership Program" (IVLP) as part of a three-person team invited by the U.S. Department of State. Within this program, meetings were held at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C., including a Federalism Briefing, along with visits to the U.S. Congress, the House of Representatives, the National Council for International Visitors (NCIV), Board Source, German Marshall Fund, Georgetown University, Howard University, AARP, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Voluntary Visitor Division, the World Trade Center Institute in Annapolis, Maryland, the State House Building, the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Center, and the Annapolis Small and Minority Business Enterprise Division. In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he engaged with the International Visitors Council of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Downtown Courtyard, the Chinatown Community Development Corporation, Young Involved Philadelphia, and the Netter Center for Community Partnerships at the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, within the scope of the IVLP, he received training on management, lobbying, and cross-cultural communication at Washington University.
In 2014, he participated in the 13-day Turkish-Speaking Entrepreneurs Program, at the invitation of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye.
In the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), he engaged with many foreign missions as part of the Movement for Bright Tomorrows’ contacts, social projects, and lobbying efforts.
He also served as Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Public Works, Environment, and Culture between 2015 -2016 and at the Ministry of Interior between 2016- 2018. In 2021, he was appointed as the Special Advisor to the Presidency of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and continues to serve as the Communication and Press Advisor.
He has been and still is a columnist in various newspapers.
He is married and has 2 children.
