President Ersin Tatar attended the 2022-2023 academic year opening ceremony held at Girne American University's Spectrum Convention Centre.
In his speech at the ceremony, President Tatar emphasised that the greatest strength of the Turkish nation is a strong family structure and he stated that Girne American University has become a brand.
Addressing the ceremony, President Tatar paid tribute to the cultural diversity of university students, where he described the human family as a mosaic of cultures and peoples.
“Our greatest richness is that, whilst you have come to the TRNC to receive quality education, you will also be able to celebrate the diverse cultures and learn from one another, and to build your experiences together,” the President said.
President Tatar underlined the “importance of receiving education,” even at times “when the negative effects had been felt across the globe due to the pandemic”. He said universities including Girne American University, had reverted to continuing education with the use of the internet.
Stating that “students can improve through self-discipline and by making use of opportunities presented to them,” the President added that “friendship and communication are also important besides a good education”.
