President Ersin Tatar attends the ceremony held at the BRTK building for Hüseyin Çobanoğlu, the former director and chairman of the board of directors of BRTK, who passed away yesterday

The TRNC is mourning the great loss of Hüseyin Çobanoğlu, the former director and chairman of the board of directors of BRTK State media, who died yesterday as a result of his illness.
President Ersin Tatar, who attended the ceremony held at the BRTK headquarters in Lefkoşa, paid tribute to Mr Çobanoğlu and his devotion to the media and broadcasting sector.
The President stated: “We have gathered here today to pay tribute to Hüseyin Çobanoğlu, who was a very much loved and respected member of the Turkish Cypriot People, whom I have personally known for nearly 40 years. We always used to talk about the development of BRT and expanding its broadcasts all over the world.”
Emphasising that Mr Çobanoğlu has made a significant contribution to the development of the broadcasting sector in the country, President Tatar added that “Mr Çobanoğlu has provided great services in different fields and was very much seen as a father figure by his employees, who felt a great sense of compassion and responsibility to others”.
The President said: “Mr Çobanoğlu attributed great importance to giving a voice to all sectors and people from different walks of life and to civil community groups, even if they had different opinions. He placed great importance on protecting and expanding BRT, because the State media is the voice of the People. . .may he rest in eternal peace”.
In addition to President Ersin Tatar, the ceremony was attended by Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, ministers, deputies, family, relatives, his loved ones and BRTK staff.
