President Ersin Tatar stated that the TRNC continues in its path as an independent and free state with the support of Republic of Türkiye.

President Tatar was speaking at the meeting of Türkiye Kamu-Sen in Antalya.  


Indicating that until 1974 when Mehmetçik stepped on the island, the genocides in Cyprus continued between the years of 1960 and 1974, President Tatar reminded despite the fact that Turkish Cypriots are one of the co-founders of the Republic of Cyprus and Türkiye is the guarantor power of Turkish Cypriot people, the European Union accepted the membership of South Cyprus while excluding the guarantor power Türkiye, although Turkish Cypriot people voted for yes in the Annan Plan.   


President Tatar expressed the belief that the TRNC as an independent state together with the Republic of Türkiye will reach a stronger position in the future. “Blue Homeland is even more powerful now,” the President underlined.


Stating that federation thesis would bring the Turkish Cypriot people in a minority status, President Tatar underlined the significance of the presence of Turkish military on the island for Turkish Cypriots.  He noted that the solution could only be possible with the cooperation of the two states.

Reminding of the work carried out with regards to an interconnected system in electricity with the support of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President Tatar said the South Cyprus did not respond to sharing this.

Expressing his belief that the TRNC will gradually reach a better and stronger position over the years, President Tatar thanked Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkish President, who said that "it is high time for the TRNC to be recognised and the isolations imposed on the people come to an end".


In his speech, President Ersin Tatar also emphasised that he will continue his political will on the basis of independence for the future of the country.
