President Ersin Tatar evaluates the historic address of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly

"It is time to recognise the TRNC and lift the unjust isolation"

President Ersin Tatar has evaluated the historic address of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
 
President Tatar stated that following the addresses at the United Nations 77th and 78th sessions of the General Assembly, Turkish President Erdoğan "once again delivered a powerful speech this year, where he reiterated his call to the international community to formally recognise the TRNC and to end the unjust isolation that continues to be imposed on the Turkish Cypriot People".  
 
President Tatar said that President Erdoğan "made references to numerous international issues", and that "with regards to the Cyprus issue, President Erdoğan stressed the importance of the rights and interests of Türkiye in accordance with the continental shelf delimitation agreement for the north and west of the Island of Cyprus, and the rights of the Turkish Cypriot People in the whole of the island.  
 
President Tatar noted that "President Erdoğan pointed out that it has been 50 years since the Cyprus Peace Operation, and 61 years since the Greek Cypriot side created the Cyprus issue by usurping the Republic of Cyprus partnership state by force of arms".
 
President Tatar stated that President Erdoğan "pointed out that there has been peace on the island since the Cyprus Peace Operation of 1974 that put a stop to the attrocities and attrocities", and he drew attention to the fact that the "sides endeavouring most sincerely to reach a just and sustainable settlement to the Cyprus issue, has always been the Turkish Cypriot Side and Türkiye".
 
"President Erdoğan also stated during his address at the UN General Assembly, that negotiations for a federal model has completely lost its validity. President Erdoğan emphasised that there are two Peoples and two States in Cyprus, and called for the reaffirmation of our sovereign equality and equal international status," President Tatar said. 
 
President Tatar added that President Erdoğan urged the international community to end the unjust isolation that is continuing to be imposed on the Turkish Cypriot People. 
 
President Tatar stressed that President Erdoğan invited the international community to formally recognise the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and to establish diplomatic, political and economic relations with it.
 "The call to the countries of the world to establish diplomatic, economic and political ties with the TRNC is very important," Presidemnt Tatar said.
 
Stating that Türkiye is just 40 miles from the Island of Cyprus, President Tatar said: "Türkiye is one of the guarantor powers and has historical and legal rights on the island". 
 
President Tatar said that the value and importance of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has increased.
 
President Tatar stated that President Erdoğan also stressed that negotiations will not be started without the "reaffirmation of our sovereign equality and equal international status, which is the new national position of the Turkish Cypriot Side that is fully supported by Türkiye". President Tatar said: "If there is going to be a settlement, it will be on the basis of two States".  
 
The President added that the objective of the leader of the Greek Cypriot Administration, Nikos Christodoulides, is to patch on Turkish Cypriots to the usurped republic, "which has been turned exclusively into a unitary Greek Cypriot state".  
 
President Tatar expressed his wholehearted gratitude to President Erdoğan on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot people for his speech at the UN General Assembly.
