President Ersin Tatar held a meeting with economists and financial experts at the Presidency
“I will hold necessary consultations”
President Ersin Tatar stated that there is a major currency crisis and said that he was "following the issue and speaking to financial experts and economists. . .I am very much involved in trying to help our executive and to explore what measures can be taken to minimise the negative effects faced by the country as a result of the currency crisis".
Expressing that he is in the process of making some suggestions to the government, President Tatar stated that the measures that can be taken in the context of the currency crisis were discussed with Prime Minister Dr Faiz Sucuoğlu .
Emphasising that "there is an external shock", President Tatar pointed out that managing the crisis is not as easy as it seems. The President expressed that this situation has various dimensions and that talks will be held with the Republic of Turkey. He added that as the President he will hold necessary consultations on this issue.
Academician and economist Vedat Yorucu, retired academician and economist Özay Mehmet, academician and expert on finance Derviş Kırıkkaleli, Halk Bank Deputy Manager for TRNC Kenan Şahin, economist and businessperson Ahmet Ratip, treasury specialist and banker Emre Değirmencioğlu, former Vice President of the Central Bank, Albank General Manager Ahmet Karavelioğlu and lecturer and finance expert Kaan Kutlay, attended the meeting that was held at the Presidency.
