President Ersin Tatar holds meeting with Cevdet Yılmaz, Vice President of the Republic of Türkiye

President Ersin Tatar has held a meeting with the Cevdet Yılmaz, Vice President of the Republic of Türkiye, who is paying a visit to the TRNC.
President Tatar stated that when he was serving as minister of finance, he had “crossed paths and conducted economic studies” with Mr Yılmaz, who was at the time serving as the minister of development.
Welcoming the Vice President of Türkiye to the TRNC, President Tatar stated that it is “important to benefit from the knowledge and experience of Vice President Yılmaz to create a more efficient economic structure for the development of both the TRNC and the Republic of Türkiye”.
Drawing attention to the importance of the work that Turkish Vice President Yılmaz will undertake to strengthen the economy of the TRNC, President Tatar said that the experience and guidance to be put forward by Mr Yılmaz is invaluable.
Explaining that “comparative advantages are important in the economy”, President Tatar pointed out that “TRNC's comparative advantages are primarily based on tourism, the sea and the sun,” adding that “agriculture has also come to the fore especially after the pandemic period and the Russian-Ukraine war and due to the climate change”.
President Tatar stated that the precious fresh water of Anatolia being transported via the 80km long undersea pipeline at 75 million m3 per annum to the TRNC is also being utilised in the agricultural sector and animal breeding.
“Life is all about competition,” President Tatar said, adding: “Scientific wisdom is important. With the economic cooperation protocol signed with Republic of Türkiye, there will be more efficient use of resources. Developing and implementing the protocol is important for a sustainable economy”.
