President Ersin Tatar inaugurates the traditionally held 12 Pulya (Songbird) Festival organised by Yeniboğaziçi Municipality

 President Ersin Tatar inaugurated the 12. Pulya (Songbird) Festival, organised by Yeniboğaziçi Municipality.

The President, who made an address at the opening ceremony, expressed his happiness at participating in “such a beautiful event,” and added that “festivals are a very important attribute of our culture and not only raise awareness with regards to the need to protect our environment and nature, but they also play a significant role social in bringing people together”.

The President stated that “numerous festivals are once again being organised and held in our country following the end of the pandemic period”.

Commending the Yeniboğaziçi mayor and municipality personnel in organising the festival, the President added: “I see love and dedication when I look at the services being provided here to both locals and tourists”.

The President also touched upon the Cyprus issue and stated that it is “very important for Turkish Cypriots to show unity and solidarity with one another – as we had done in the past in the face of great suffering and attacks that forced our people to defend themselves.  Our struggle to exist in these lands as a sovereign and equal people within the TRNC, which was proclaimed out of our free will, is continuing,” he said.

Stating that the Yeniboğaziçi region has “significant tourism potential,” President Tatar said that “culture, art, environment and nature should always be protected” and he expressed his gratitude to everybody who organised the festival.
