President Ersin Tatar’s message on the opening of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce’s (KTTO) Representation Office in London is as follows: “I would like to express my great happiness that the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce’s (KTTO) Representation Office in London is opening today, in the heart of London, in Soho distinct. On the other hand, I am in great disappointment for not being able to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new office, to which I attach great importance, as I had to postpone my trip to London due to domestic engagements. The representation office will be a turning point in developing relations between North Cyprus and the UK and improving the current ties on the commercial level between the two countries, following Brexit. This step will further strengthen the trade bridge between the TRNC and the UK. The new office, as well as increasing the economic potential between the two countries, will consolidate the firm ties between Turkish Cypriots living in the UK and the TRNC and at the same time will contribute to improving political relations created by historical ties. No doubt the chamber’s representation office in London will pioneer various investment fields in our country for many of our valuable businesspeople, who have been residing in the UK and have been successful in their endeavours in the UK. The political and economic conjuncture that has emerged after Brexit has made it essential to take economic, political and diplomatic steps. For this reason, the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce’s (KTTO) Representation Office in London, alongside of the representation offices in Ankara and Brussels, will help Turkish Cypriots carry out their economic activities more effectively on current conditions and pursue new investments. It will help us turn the global economic effect of Brexit into an opportunity. I would like to congratulate the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce and its chairman Turgay Deniz for undertaking the initiative to open a representation office in London and wish the chamber all the best in its activities. Lastly, I would like to reiterate my wish to come together with our fellow citizens in the UK at the earliest time possible.”
