President Ersin Tatar makes important evaluations about Cyprus in the programme called “Cumhuriyet Sohbeti” (Talking about the Republic) which was broadcast live on BRT screens and moderated by Canev Aslan where he said “The new politics in Cyprus have been accepted by the people.”
President Ersin Tatar took part in a televised programme broadcast on BRT, where he put forward his views in relation to the Cyprus problem.
The President stated that the new politics and understanding in Cyprus have been accepted by the people.
Underlining that two separate sovereign and independent states will co-exist side by side in Cyprus and that solution is possible with the cooperation of the two states, President Tatar stated that there are two different peoples in Cyprus which have different expectations and added that “As the Turkish Cypriot people, we do not consent to be dominated by the Greek Cypriots.”
President Tatar noted that they are in a position to take the new policy to the end. “Now the new position has become irreversible. We invite the Greek Cypriot side to see and accept the truth. Because living in a fantasy World is of no use to anyone. The Greek Cypriot side lives in a fantasy World,” he explained.
Noting that there are two separate structures in Cyprus and that these two structures have stood at different points for 60 years, President Tatar said that we will now continue on our path in the new politics. Our greatest strength is the unconditional support of Republic of Turkey for this policy until the end, he added.
Stating that the TRNC has come a long way despite all the embargoes and isolations, President Tatar said; “The TRNC has written a great success story with Motherland Turkey in the last 50 years.”
Making evaluations on Maraş, President Tatar stated that the Maraş initiative is the right move and stated that as a State, with the opening of Maraş, the Turkish Cypriot side paved the way for the Immovable Property Commission. Emphasizing that this did not contradict international law, the President emphasised that the right owners could purchase their properties through the Immovable Property Commission.
