President Ersin Tatar issued a written statement marking the start of the 2023-2024 academic year in primary and secondary education.
The statement reads as follows:
“Dear esteemed students,
The new academic year will doubtlessly mark a significant step in your life-long journey.
I strongly believe that each one of you will approach your studies in a disciplined and devoted manner and that you will continue your education with determination to succeed as a responsible individual.
You are the future of our country, of our nation, and the very existence of the Turkish Cypriot People. Therefore, learn your history and culture well, and be proud of your Turkish Cypriot heritage. Your parents and teachers will also play a pivotal role in helping you to succeed during your new academic year and indeed your life-long journey.
I have full faith that each one of you, as the guarantee of our future and the TRNC, will develop your knowledge and skills and as responsible individuals, follow the principles of our Great leader, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
I wish you all a successful academic year and extend my thanks to your parents and teachers who are preparing you, our children, to face the challenges of the future not only to fulfil your dreams, but to serve your People, country and ultimately humanity.”
