President Ersin Tatar meets with people at social event
President Ersin Tatar met with members of the public by participating in a social activity organised in Ağırdağ under the Presidential Social Support Committee, in cooperation with the Foundations (Vakıflar) Administration and the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities.
Expressing that he is happy to meet the beautiful people of Ağırdağ on a day when the Night of Power (Night of Qadr) will take place, President Tatar emphasised that the greatest objective is to ensure the well-being of the Turkish Cypriot people to live in peace and prosperity.
"WE WILL NEVER BECOME A MINORITY"
Emphasising the importance of protecting the State by drawing attention to the sacrifices made by the Turkish Cypriots during the years of communal struggle, President Tatar said: "Our peace, security and our State are very important".
Referring to the five-plus-UN informal meeting that was held in Geneva last month, President Tatar said that he had put forward a settlement model based on the cooperative relationship of two States coexisting side by side. He said it is very important that this position is supported by the Republic of Turkey, adding that the Turkish Cypriots will never be a minority in Cyprus. The President said that protecting the TRNC is the guarantee of the welfare and security of the Turkish Cypriot people.
"THE REALITIES MUST BE CONSIDERED ..."
Pointing out the necessity of taking into account the realities of Cyprus, President Tatar stated that there have been two separate administrations in Cyprus for over 60 years. Stating that the Republic of Cyprus has turned into a Greek state, he said: "We will continue to express the existence of the TRNC State to the whole world."
President Tatar noted that as the existence of the TRNC is explained, the world is beginning to understand the realities in Cyprus and the existence of the TRNC.
"PUT ASIDE PAST DIFFERENCES AND ARGUMENTS"
Drawing attention to the importance of protecting public health during the Ramadan Eid (Bayram), which will be celebrated under pandemic conditions, President Tatar said: “Let's try to overcome these pandemic days with caution. Let's pay attention to adhering to the rules by wearing protective masks, maintaining adequate social distancing and observing good hygiene. I wish everyone good health, peace and tranquillity during the preparation for the holiday period. I wish for Bayram to bring peace and blessing to all.”
President Tatar called on people during this blessed period to “put aside and end all resentments, their past differences and arguments” and to instead be “kind, respectful and loving to each other”.
"WE ARE DOING VERY WELL IN THE STRUGGLE AGAINST THE PANDEMIC”
President Tatar underlined that the number of new Covid-19 cases have decreased in the TRNC, but cautioned that “it is nevertheless not clear when and where the virus can come from to our country”.
Emphasising that the TRNC is in a very good position when compared to other countries in combating the pandemic, President Tatar stated that the fight against the pandemic has been managed very well since the day he served as Prime Minister and said: "We should never underestimate the value of our country."
