I have today met with Polish tourism officials as part of my contacts in Warsaw. I wish to thank Rauf Alp Denktaş, the Ambassador of Motherland Türkiye in Warsaw, for his hospitality. He is the grandson of our Founding President, Rauf Denktaş, whom we remember with respect.”
Stating that “our hearts beat as one, irrespective of where in the world we live,” President Tatar added. “I have met with our businesspeople in the London, Sydney, Melbourne, New York and Berlin. Your unity and successes in the business world across different sectors is not only the strength of the Republic of Türkiye, but also that of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.”
The President added: “I call upon you all to visit the TRNC and to consider investing in our country, where our tourism, higher education, construction and agricultural sectors have developed, despite the unjust and inhumane isolation imposed on us.”
Emphasising that he is putting forward a new two State position as a basis for a realistic and sustainable settlement in Cyprus, President Tatar said: “This position is supported by the Republic of Türkiye. Negotiations on the federal basis, held for more than 50-years, have failed and is exhausted.”
President Tatar thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his calls to the international community during his addresses at the 77th, 78th and 79th sessions of the UN General Assembly, where he called on the world to formally recognise the TRNC and to end the isolation imposed on the Turkish Cypriot People.
The President also thanked the businesspeople for their time and for participating in the reception.
Ambassador Denktaş thanked the President for his visit to Warsaw where he has met with tourism officials and press members and is today meeting with prominent members of the business community in Warsaw who are of Turkish and Turkish Cypriot descent.
“Yesterday, President Tatar, whom I admire for his great leadership, presented me with an old photograph of a moment of him and my grandfather, Founding President Rauf Denktaş. The photograph, which was signed by him 30 years ago, is very valuable for me and has made me emotional. . . I have already put the photograph up on the wall,” Ambassador Denktaş said.
