President Ersin Tatar has paid tribute to the work of the European-Mediterranean Art Association (EMAA) during an event held to commemorate the 20th anniversary of its establishment that was held at the campus of the American University of Cyprus.
Expressing his great admiration for art, the President commended the EMAA and its artists and art-lovers, for their objective of reviving the love for art in the TRNC.
President Tatar said it was important to touch the lives of people through the work of art, and to continue to keep awareness and to develop art in the country.
“Art is about emotion and being able to understand the environment and surroundings,” the President said. “Art is an excellent tool in cultural exchange, for being able to express in a universal language without words, and to educate.”
The President, who thanked everybody involved for organising the event, commended the EMAA artists for their “outstanding work” and wished them success.
“Our artists are our core value. It is necessary to work for the continuation of such beautiful artistic activities. I appreciate the success of our artists in the just struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people,” the President said.
