President Ersin Tatar attended the press briefing about the "Sea Phase" of the Martyr Lieutenant Caner Gönyeli-2024 Search and Rescue Invitation Exercise, which was carried out off the coast of Gazimağusa with the participation of civilian and military staff of the Republic of Türkiye and the TRNC Search and Rescue Organisation.
Making a statement to the press following the briefing on the Coastguard ship,  TCSG Yaşam, at the Port of Gazimağusa, President Tatar stated that the second-day of the exercise was carried out to "strengthen the humanitarian search and rescue capability as well as protecting the rights, laws and interests of the Turkish Cypriot People in the eastern Mediterranean, in the Blue Homeland”.

Thanking the authorities of the Republic of Türkiye and TRNC, President Tatar noted that they had “observed the search and rescue capability in our Blue Homeland”.

Stating that they will “continue to develop opportunities for security, immigrant issues, national interests, rights, law and humanity while strengthening the TRNC”, President Tatar emphasised  that the TRNC, an independent Turkish state, has “become stronger in every field with the support of Türkiye”.
