President Ersin Tatar participated in the “Stay Healthy” event organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Health as part of the Public Health Week public awareness campaign being held in the TRNC between September 3-9.
President Tatar, who addressed the event in Dereboyu, Lefkoşa, stressed that “smoking and excessive alcohol consumption should be avoided because of the damages this poses to health. I cannot emphasise enough the importance of living a healthy lifestyle which is also important in showing a good example to our children”.
Stating that he was Prime Minister when the Covid-19 pandemic had first started, President Tatar said: “The pandemic once again revealed the importance of having a sufficient and effective health service and healthcare staff.”
The President expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Health for organising “this very important week that is full of events, which aims to promote healthier living and how we can all take responsibility as individuals to improving our health through lifestyle changes”.
President Tatar stated that healthcare professionals advise on following a balanced nutritional diet and maintaining a daily exercise routine.
“Personally, I love to undertake my daily walks and exercise,” President Tatar said. “Healthcare professionals, who serve in the field of health with their knowledge, skills and effort, provide an important service to their respective societies. I would like to pay tribute and thank all healthcare professionals, to whom we entrust our health and our lives, for their devoted efforts in providing the best possible healthcare services,” he said.
