During the meeting, President Tatar emphasised that the Turkish Red Crescent, which has existed on the island since the 1960s, has always been with the Turkish Cypriots.


Pointing out the importance of blood donation awareness, President Tatar thanked the Turkish Red Crescent for supporting the Turkish Red Crescent of Northern Cyprus and the delegation in their blood donation campaigns.

President Tatar pointed out that during the pandemic process, in coordination with the Turkish Red Crescent, food packets were distributed to the needy, and stressed that  when the Turkish Cypriots were refugees during the times of hardship,  Turkish Red Crescent played a very important role to provide aid and medication  to the Turkish Cypriots.


Stating that the relations between TRNC and the Republic of Turkey are strengthening in every field, President Tatar referred to the vaccine assistance Turkey has been giving to foreign countries and stressed the necessity of vaccines in order to overcome the pandemic. “In this regard, I cannot emphasise enough how important it is that Motherland Turkey is providing the TRNC with vaccines that will help us to combat Covid-19 and inoculate our public, and help us to return to normality,” the President said.


Expressing his wish that the Turkish Red Crescent building will be completed soon, President Tatar thanked the Turkish Red Crescent for their work.

Turkish Red Crescent Northern Cyprus Delegation Head Recep Günaydın stated that approximately 50 per cent of the blood needed by the state is met by the Red Crescent campaigns, and gave information about the projects and training carried out by the Turkish Red Crescent around the world and in the TRNC.
