President Ersin Tatar receives mountaineer, skier and ice climber Birkan Uzun
Mr Uzun informed the president that he has a project to promote the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus by climbing what is known as the ‘Seven Summits’, the highest mountains in every continent.
Mr Uzun stated that he has so far successfully climbed four mountains to date, namely the Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mount Elbrus in Europe, Mount Aconcagua in South America and Mount Denali in North America and that his future plans are to also climb Mount Vinson in Antarctica, Mount Everest in Asia and Carstensz Pyramid in Oceania.
President Tatar expressed his ‘pride’ at the success of Mr Uzun and Turkish Cypriot youth in sports, adding: “I am proud to see that we have successful sportsman who are promoting the TRNC all over the world. Your success will inspire others to participate in sports and try to reach the peak in their sport.”
The President underlined that they would be willing to provide any assistance necessary to help Mr Uzun succeed in his project and wished him successes and long life.
