President Ersin Tatar, speaking on the CNN Türk live broadcast, evaluated the inappropriate conduct of UN peacekeepers against Turkish Cypriot security personnel, who was cleaning the military area located within the TRNC in Lefkoşa.  
 
Stating that the Turkish Cypriot side did not approve the inappropriate conduct of the UN peacekeepers, President Tatar said: “An investigation has been launched upon our complaint and we are following the issue.” 
 
Noting that they will defend the rights of the Turkish Cypriots to the very end, President Tatar emphasised that the authorities of the Republic of Türkiye, especially the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, are on the side of the Turkish Cypriots.  
 
President Tatar stated that the UN Peacekeepers have tried to obstruct the development of the Pile-Yiğitler road in an area that has been under the effective control of the Turkish Cypriot Side since 1974, which he said “has cast doubt on the impartiality of the UN and its obligation to treat the two Sides with equality”.
 
Pointing out that the UN has turned a blind eye to the constructions of roads, houses, universities and shopping malls in the buffer zone in similar cases in favour of the Greek Cypriot Administration, President Tatar said: “The UN has been a mere spectator when Greek Cypriot Administration used the buffer zone as though the area were their own.”
 
President Tatar also stated that the UN had through Resolution 186 on March 4, 1964, treated the Greek Cypriots as the sole government of the island, even though the Turkish Cypriots had been expulsed by force of arms out of the state apparatus of the partnership state in December 1963.  “Therefore, in a sense, the UN is responsible for creating this situation,” President Tatar said.
 
In reference to the Cyprus issue, President Tatar said: “A settlement in Cyprus has to be based on the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot Side.  We are ready to start new and formal negotiations on this basis, when it is reaffirmed and acknowledged. Such an agreement would enable the cooperative relationship of two States.
 
The President said that they will not allow for the TRNC to be demolished, and for the Turkish Cypriots to be patched on to the Greek Cypriot Administration.
 
Türkiye supports the current policy of the Turkish Cypriot side and Turkish authorities continue to reassure their support in every platform, the President added.
