On the 103rd anniversary of one of the most glorious victories in Turkish history, President Ersin Tatar led the celebrations of 30 August Victory Day, which he stated is being celebrated with pride, passion, and deep reverence.  The parade  was held at the Dr Fazıl Küçük Boulevard in Lefkoşa.

In his address, President Tatar emphasised that each year on this sacred day, the Turkish nation recalls with gratitude the epic struggle that secured independence and freedom at the cost of great sacrifice. He underlined that 30 August is "far more than a military triumph; it is the embodiment of national will, the strength of unity and solidarity, and the eternal yearning for freedom".

President Tatar added that under the visionary leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Turkish nation, despite deprivation and hardship, defeated the forces of occupation -- securing not only independence but heralding the birth of the Republic of Türkiye. The President stated that "this monumental victory belongs not only to the Turks of Anatolia but to the entire Turkic world", and "stands as a timeless proof that no force can overcome the Turkish nation when they stands united".

President Tatar paid tribute to the Turkish Cypriot people who, even in that period, gave their wholehearted support to this sacred cause, and recalled that August is also the month in which, in 1974, the Turkish Cypriot people attained their own freedom. He declared that as Turkish Cypriots, they share the same pride and joy with their Motherland, for the victory of 30 August is not confined to Anatolia but is the common triumph of the whole Turkic world.

President Tatar added that the "independence of the Republic of Türkiye remains the surest guarantee of the independence of the Turkish Cypriot people". He pledged that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will "continue to grow stronger and advance into the future, shoulder to shoulder with the Republic of Türkiye".

“With unity, with resolve, and with the spirit of struggle, we shall continue to work tirelessly for the future of our nation,” President Tatar said.  “Statehood, sovereignty, independence, and the guarantee of the Republic of Türkiye are immutable principles from which we shall never waver.”

Concluding his speech, President Tatar expressed his profound gratitude to the Republic of Türkiye and the Turkish Armed Forces, and with deep respect honoured the memory of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and all the martyrs who gave their lives for the sacred cause of freedom.
