President Tatar inaugurates the “Emine Altuner Handicraft Exhibition”
“Art and cultural work is proof of the existence of Turkish Cypriot People”

President Ersin Tatar has underlined the importance of art and cultural work as evidence of existence of the Turkish Cypriot People.
The President made the remarks during the inauguration of the “Emine Altuner Handicraft Exhibition” organised in cooperation with the Cultural Department and Turkish Cypriot Women's Association.
President Tatar, addressing the exhibition opening ceremony held at the Atatürk Cultural Centre in Lefkoşa, stated: “I commend everybody for organising this exhibition, which displays the unique cultural attributes of Turkish Cypriot People. Art is important in that it not only acts as a mirror, reflecting the culture and way of life of the Turkish Cypriot People, it also communicates our way of life, culture and makes a social statement about us. Art and cultural work therefore prove that Turkish Cypriot People exist.”
Stating that he has always followed the art and cultural work of Emine Altuner since he was a child, President Tatar said that he “attends with great excitement the meticolously prepared exhibitions that is annually held by Emine Altuner”.
“Ms. Emine Altuner is an example to our youth and our artists in preserving our culture and traditions through art work,” President Tatar said. “I commend her and thank everybody for organising and contributing to this exhibition.”
