President Tatar: "The Erenköy Resistance of the Turkish Cypriots is the equivalent of the Çanakkale Legendary struggle"

President Ersin Tatar received Nazım Kızılbora, a freedom fighter (mujahideen) of Erenköy, and Özgül Kızılbora, who worked as a radio operator in Erenköy for more than 30 years.
“We are pleased to welcome Nazım Kızılbora, who took part as a mujahideen in the Erenköy Resistance, one of the most important phases of the Turkish Cypriot struggle history, and Özgül Kızılbora, who started working as a radio operator in Erenköy in 1961 at the age of 16, and fulfilled this duty for more than 30 years at the Presidency,” the President said.
Expressing that he has the utmost respect for both, President Tatar stated that people who have rendered such important services to the country as a very important sign of sense of loyalty.

Pointing out that the Erenköy Resistance is the equivalent of the Çanakkale Legendary struggle of the Turkish Cypriots, President Tatar underlined that it is his greatest civic duty to remember and remind the courage and services of hundreds of young people who left their education in those years and went to Erenköy to defend their homeland during the years of the national struggle.
Expressing that the TRNC will always live, President Tatar emphasised that “we will never give up our sovereignty, security and freedom”.

President Tatar thanked Nazım Kızılbora and Özgül Kızılbora for their service and pointed out that it is necessary to pass down to the young generations the things that happened during the national struggle and how the TRNC has reached these days.
Nazım Kızılbora and Özgül Kızılbora expressed their happiness at being accepted by President Tatar at his office and thanked the President for his sense of loyalty.
President Tatar expressed his gratitude to all freedom fighters who fought heroically in the Erenköy Resistance, and wished God's mercy on those who were martyred and passed away, and wished veterans a long and healthy life.
