Presidential Spokesperson Dr. Berna Çelik Doğruyol’s Statement:
As is known, on 18th March, 2021 Our President Mr. Ersin Tatar, met with the Rectors and Rector representatives of the Universities operating in the TRNC and explained his vision to be put on the table at the 5+UN unofficial meeting to be held in Geneva and our university representatives also conveyed their views to our President.
Within this framework, our President held another online meeting with Rectors and Rector representatives on April, 21st, 2021. At the meeting, the Rectors and the Rector representatives agreed that it is inevitable that the negotiation processes, which have been carried out since 1968 and ended in failure, should be carried out on a new ground.
They also declared verbally and in writing that they fully support the vision of our President, Mr. Ersin Tatar, that a fair, realistic and sustainable agreement in Cyprus can only be achieved through cooperation on the basis of the sovereign equality and equal international status of the two States.
