Sports Superior Committee Leader holds its first meeting
The Sports Superior Committee, formed by the Presidency and headed by Sertaç Bozatlı, held its first meeting yesterday.
Sibel Tatar, the wife of the President, who left the meeting after a brief speech at the beginning of the meeting, emphasized the importance of sports for our country and mentioned that there are imposed embargoes on the field of sports. “We will do our utmost to overcome this problem on the international arena,” she said.
Sibel Tatar emphasized that the Presidency did not only establish a committee because it attaches importance to sports, but also because they are aware of the importance of working on this issue. Stating that she trusts the members of the committee getting together on this purpose, Sibel Tatar expressed her belief that the committee will achieve positive results by overcoming this path, with the support of the Presidency.
Chairman of the Committee Sertaç Bozatlı and committee members Nazım Serkan Burgul, Cemal Konnolu, Hüseyin Aşkın Kınacı and Berna Çelik attended the meeting.
The Committee, which will work intensively in the path of gaining representation in the international arena by listing the isolations imposed on the Turkish Cypriot youth in the field of sports, aims to take legal action in international sports courts for the sake of this purpose.
The Committee will play an active role in determining and developing our sports policy in the international arena, as well as in determining and implementing the national sports policy.
Whilst carrying out all these activities, the Committee aims to act in cooperation with the state institutions in the field of youth and sports.
