President Ersin Tatar has made a statement in relation to the five-plus-UN informal meeting:
“We welcome the statement by the UN in relation to the date, place and objective of the agreed five-plus-UN informal meeting.
A new ground is essential in order to reach a settlement in Cyprus. The basis of negotiations, which has been unsuccessful for more than half-a-century, has been left behind. It is possible to reach a just and sustainable settlement on a realistic basis.
We will put forward our new vision, which is supported by Motherland Turkey, to our interlocuters at the informal meeting in a sincere and constructive manner that is based on the existence of the sovereign equality of two States that enjoy a relationship of cooperation.
We are tirelessly working for the island of Cyprus and the region to become a beacon of stability and prosperity.”
