President Ersin Tatar has this week met with the political parties represented in Parliament. President Tatar and members of the negotiating team separately held briefings with the National Unity Party, Republican Turkish Party, People’s Party and Social Democratic Party leaders and their respective delegations.
Within the scope of the meetings, our President stated that the five-plus-UN informal meeting to be held in Geneva between 27-29 April, is to search for a common ground basis for a settlement between the two sides, and the President gave information and exchanged views about the vision that will be put forward by the TRNC.
Our President stated that it is essential to ensure equality between the two parties for a fair, permanent and sustainable settlement in Cyprus, and in this context, within the framework of the existing realities, a possible settlement can be based on the cooperation of two States with sovereign equality and equal international status. President Ersin Tatar underlined that he is ready to give information before Geneva, if an invitation is received, in the Parliamentary Assembly.
The President will receive the Democrat Party and Rebirth Party Chairmen and accompanying delegations next week within the scope of information meetings.
