The seventh of the "Stay Healthy and Add Years to Your Life" seminar has been held at the Çatalköy Municipality Erol Avgören Cultural Centre under the auspices of the Presidency, highlighting the harmful effects of tobacco, tobacco products and electronic cigarettes. The seminar also focused on healthy living and maintaining a nutritional diet.
Keep away from smoking tobacco-based products and electronic cigarettes and try to maintain a healthy way of living through regular exercise and a nutritional diet to help you live a longer better-quality life.
These were the messages given at the “Stay Healthy and Add Years to Your Life” seminar that was held in Çatalköy under the auspices of the Presidency, which was also attended by First Lady Sibel Tatar and Çatalköy mayor Ceyhun Kırok and members of the public.
Head of the Presidential Science and Health Committee, Prof. Dr. Füsun Yıldız, drew attention to the harmful effects of electronic cigarettes which are touted as being “less harmful” by tobacco companies, but added that “these are just as harmful when compared to regular cigarettes”. She stated that the public should refrain from using tobacco-based products, which damage health and have long-term negative effects, from shortness of breath to different kinds of cancer.
Prof. Dr. Füsun Yıldız pointed out that fruit infused and menthol cigarettes are more harmful to the body because they have an effect of opening the bronchi in the lungs, which allows the smoke to be penetrated deeper into the lungs. She added that the flat cancer cells have recently evolved into a more harmful structure.
Emphasising that “no tobacco product, including hookah and electronic cigarettes is innocent”, Prof. Yıldız noted that “there are treatments available to cure cigarette addiction for people who are determined to quit smoking”.
