THE AIM IS TO EXPAND THE PRODUCTION OF GOODS MADE FROM NATURAL SILK IN OUR COUNTRY
The project, the first phase of which was carried out in Akçay led by Sibel Tatar and in cooperation with the Akçay Mukhtar, including training courses on silkworm breeding, silk cocoon production, weaving and preparation of various goods for sale in the established farm, is envisaged to be implemented in Mehmetçik with the aim of spreading the project throughout the country.
At the launch of the project in Mehmetçik, it was shared that 40 thousand silkworms were raised in Akçay, various products after training and studies on weaving came along and offered for sale at Ercan Airport under the brand "Kozada" and that the goods are attracting great interest.

In her speech at the event, First Lady Sibel Tatar stated that there have been many projects implemented in the last three years under the auspices of the Presidency and under her leadership, and that among these projects, after the Tatlısu Target Zero Waste project, another project to which she attaches great importance is "The Rebirth of Silk in Northern Cyprus” project. She noted that with the revival of silk, which is present in our history and culture and will make a great contribution to the economy, the product range of our country will expand as well as increasing the workforce of women.
Pointing out that silk is an important and expensive product in the world, First Lady Sibel Tatar stated that they obtained yellow cocoons, a much sought-after product, from the silkworms grown in our country, and explained the importance of the revival of silk weaving as a historical value in our country.
GREAT INTEREST IN PRODUCTS MADE FROM NATURAL SILK
Stating that the silk fabrics, which were dyed with natural methods by Dervişe Çeliker and Münüse Ağagil in the Presidency after the weaving process that required manual dexterity, were sewn and packaged with the contributions of ZAY-DER, First Lady Sibel Tatar stated that the launch of the products offered by obtaining natural and beautiful colours was of great excitement and happiness. First Lady added that natural silk products obtained by the labour of our women under the brand "Kozada" are offered for sale at Ercan Airport, and noted that there is a great demand for these products.
AFTER AKÇAY, PRODUCTS MADE OF SILK WITH WOMEN'S LABOUR WILL ALSO BE OBTAINED IN THE MEHMETÇİK-BÜYÜKKONUK REGION.
While the project, which was successfully implemented in Akçay, continues, First Lady Sibel Tatar, who shared her happiness about realising the second phase in this region as a result of the importance given to this project by Mehmetçik-Büyükkonuk Mayor Fatma Çimen Tuğlu, said that a farm similar to the one in Akçay will be established in the region and income could be generated as a result of the efforts of local women. Stating that the ongoing process in Akçay can also be implemented in the Mehmetçik-Büyükkonuk region, First Lady Sibel Tatar said, "We are here as a guide in this process, we are with you to implement the project and we will give our support."
Pointing out that the hard work of women in this region is well known, First Lady Sibel Tatar expressed her belief that the project will be successful in this region as well, and wished for the project to be beneficial.
