The Statement of the Presidential Press Research Archive Advisor Aydin Akkurt: “The map is not in the Presidential archive."
After President Ersin Tatar's statement, "The map given to the UN by the former President Mustafa Akıncı is not in our archives", Akıncı kept his silence. Akıncı's Undersecretary Gürdal Hüdaoğlu claimed that "The map was given by me in a sealed envelope to Okan Donangil, the undersecretary of President Ersin Tatar".
Presidential Press Research Archive Advisor Aydin Akkurt noted that the said map is not in the Presidential archive and said:
“Former Undersecretary of the Presidency Gürdal Hüdaoğlu claimed that "the map, given to the UN by the former President Mustafa Akıncı in the Cyprus negotiations in 2016, was given to the current undersecretary Okan Donangil in a closed envelope".
This allegation is completely untrue and Gürdal Hüdaoğlu has not given the map to Okan Donangil. Moreover, many minutes and documents regarding the negotiations that took place during the period of Akıncı are not in the archive of the Presidency. Contrary to what is claimed by Hüdaoğlu, archive documents cannot be given to anyone in a sealed envelope. The place where these will be given by signature and recorded is the Presidential archive.
The said map and some other documents and minutes were either lost or taken with. Whilst our research and investigations on this issue have been going on for months, our attempts to initiate legal proceedings on the subject continue.”
