Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Balyemez presents his book to President Tatar
Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Balyemez, Director of Centre for Cyprus Studies of Rauf Denktaş University, visited President Ersin Tatar and presented his book titled ‘The report President İsmet İnönü had prepared on Turkish Cypriots prepared from the investigations and observations of Turkish teachers from Turkey-1948.’
Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Balyemez, who gave information about the book to the President, stated that the book includes the contacts of the delegation in Cyprus who were mainly teachers operating under the supervision of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Çorum MP, Hasene Ilgaz, who were sent to Cyprus on the order of İsmet İnönü, one of the former Presidents of the Republic of Turkey. He added that the book touches on the general history of Turkish Cypriots and that it also includes details of the Turkish Cypriot teachers and their contacts in Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir and Bursa in 1949.
Emphasising the importance of the studies that shed light on the Turkish Cypriot history, President Tatar congratulated Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Balyemez and wished him success in his work.
