Book presentation to President Ersin Tatar from the Mormenekşe Contemporary Women's Association

President Ersin Tatar has met with a delegation from the Mormenekşe Contemporary Women's Association, headed by Hayriye Tokyay.
 
The delegation presented President Tatar with the book published to mark the 10th anniversary of the Association, titled “Brides Without Wedding Dresses ”, which tells the struggle of Turkish Cypriot women.
 
Paying tribute to the Association and its members, President Tatar stated that the book tells the stories of 20 Turkish Cypriot women during the years of struggle, recording their real-life events and past experiences for the benefit of future generations. The President added that the book “also educates its reader on the history of Turkish Cypriot people and particularly the story of the people who have struggled to coexist on the Island of Cyprus”.  
 
“I congratulate all the women who have taken place in this book and thank them for sharing key moments of their lives in the national struggle,” President Tatar said.
 
President Tatar added that "despite difficulties and oppression, Turkish Cypriot People never gave up. . . they resisted and have reached the present day".
