Prof. Dr. FÜSUN YILDIZ 

Prof Dr Füsun Yıldız was born in 1965 in Antalya. She completed her  primary, secondary and high school education at TED Ankara College. She graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1988 with a degree. She started her specialization in Chest Diseases at Anadolu University Faculty of Medicine in 1988 and received the title of Chest Diseases Specialist in 1993. Between 1993-1996, she completed her compulsory service obligation at Eskişehir State Hospital. She started to work as an Assistant Professor at Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine in 1996. She became an associate professor of YÖK in 1999 and a professor in 2005. She served as the Head of the Department of Chest Diseases at Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine between 2001-2017 (May), Head of the Department of Internal Medicine between 2006-2012, and Deputy Dean between 2012-2015. She retired from Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine on May 16, 2017 and started to work as the Head of the Department of Chest Diseases at the University of Kyrenia Faculty of Medicine as of May 17, 2017-October 2021. She has started to work as a part time Prof in Cyprus International University since December 2021. Asthma, COPD and smoking  cessation are her special interests. She is a member of many national and international professional associations. She completed her duties as the Head of Foreign Relations of the Turkish Thoracic Society, the Head of the Asthma and Allergy Working Group of the Turkish Thoracic Society, and the Head of the Working Group 2 of the GARD (Global Action Program Against Chronic Respiratory Diseases) Project in 2014. Between 2011 and 2014, she served as the National Delegate of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) for 3 years. For many years, she has been conducting scientific studies on  smoking, cessation and harms of tobacco products and participating in social responsibility projects. She received the National Committee on Smoking and Health (SSUK) award in 2010 for her successful health care works in Kocaeli. She was deemed worthy of a plaque of appreciation by the Kocaeli Governorship in 2011 for her works on smoking, and was selected as the Health Physician of the Year in Kocaeli in 2012. She has published more than 150 national and international publications and two books. She is a member of the advisory board of many national journals. She is married and has two children.
