First Lady Sibel Tatar participates in the opening of the “Turkish Cypriot Traditional Handicrafts Exhibition"
First Lady Sibel Tatar has participated in the opening of the "Turkish Cypriot Traditional Handicrafts Exhibition" organised by Yunus Emre Institute in Lefkoşa, in memory of the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.

Addressing the event, First Lady Sibel Tatar stated that the Presidency continues to support social responsibility projects, as well as cultural and artistic activities.
“I wish to thank the participants and to Yunus Emre Institute for hosting this important event that is showcasing handicrafts which has significant cultural value of the Turkish Cypriot People,” First Lady Sibel Tatar said.
The First Lady also referred to the projects carried out under the auspices of the Presidency which she has been leading, “which has had the objective of reviving and inspiring people to preserve our cultural identity and pass on to future generations,” she said.
“One of our most recent launches has been the “Kozada” brand, which has revived sericulture, and the “Keçada” brand – which introduced works produced from felting. We have also published a book titled the “Cyprus Cuisine” – that features recipes of our cultural dishes and renowned food of the Island of Cyprus. I can also give good news that publication of a book is imminent on “Cyprus Doors and Chests”, and that also a museum will be opened,” First Lady Tatar said.
Stating that the positive impact of the Ottoman Empire also came to the fore in the field of culture and arts on the Island of Cyprus, Sibel Tatar underlined that our cultural wealth is also economically important for Cyprus, which is an Island of tourism.
“It is very important to revive different aspects of Turkish Cypriot culture and to ensure its sustainability and endurance,” she said.
First Lady Tatar thanked everybody who contributed to the event and wished them success.
