The 5+1 Informal Meeting on Cyprus, convened by the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, has started in New York.
The meeting, which is being held on July 16–17, has started with a dinner held at the “Delegates Dining Room”, located on the fourth floor of the UN Headquarters building.
The dinner, which marks the first part of the two-day informal meeting, is being attended by President Ersin Tatar, who is accompanied by Güneş Onar, Special Representative of the President.
At the table with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres are the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo, and the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General, Maria Holguin Cuellar.
The dinner has been organised with two separate tables. At the main table are UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, his Deputy Rosemary DiCarlo, Personal Envoy of tge UN Secretary-General Maria Holguin, President Ersin Tatar, Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Christodoulides, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye Hakan Fidan, Foreign Minister of Greece George Gerapetritis, and the UK Minister of State for Europe and North America, Stephen Doughty.
At the second table are the leaders’ Special Representatives, Güneş Onar and Menelaos Menelaou; Head of the UN Peacekeeping Mission Colin Stewart; Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Mehmet Kemal Bozay; Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Alexandra Papadopoulou; and British High Commissioner Michael Tatham.
