Message of President Ersin Tatar on the Anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt in Türkiye
“The heroic resistance of the Turkish nation to protect its democracy, Republic, and freedom has been inscribed in history in golden letters.”
President Ersin Tatar has issued a written message to mark the anniversary of the July 15, 2016 coup attempt in the Republic of Türkiye.
In his written message, President Tatar stated:
“On the night of July 15, 2016, the Turkish nation displayed an epic resistance in unity and solidarity to defend its democracy, Republic, and freedom — a resistance that has been inscribed in history with golden letters.
The treacherous coup attempt, which targeted the will of the people and the survival of the Republic of Türkiye, was thwarted thanks to the courage of millions who took to the streets, the sacrifices of our beloved martyrs, and the determination of our veterans.
I remember with gratitude and respect all our martyrs who gave their lives on that night, and I express my heartfelt gratitude to our heroic veterans.
As the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, we are proud to always stand with Motherland Türkiye, and I once again reaffirm that we will continue to stand with the same faith and determination against any threat to democracy, the will of the people, and our freedom.
On this occasion, I pray for God's mercy upon our revered martyrs and extend my respects to our heroic veterans and the entire Turkish nation.
I also take great pride in witnessing that Motherland Türkiye has reached a historic milestone in its goal of a ‘future free of terrorism.’ This significant development is not only a source of hope and confidence for Türkiye, but also for the entire Turkic world and the region.
At this point, I wholeheartedly congratulate the success achieved through the resolute will of the Republic of Türkiye, the devoted efforts of its security forces, and the unwavering support of its noble nation.
I extend my gratitude to all those who contributed to this process — especially HE Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, the Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), Mr Devlet Bahçeli, all state officials, the Turkish Armed Forces, law enforcement, and the great Turkish nation.”
