Plenary session of the 5+1 Informal Meeting on Cyprus has started

The plenary session of the 5+1 Informal Meeting on Cyprus, convened by the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York, has started.

The plenary session is taking place on the 27th floor of the UN Headquarters building and is scheduled to run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm (TRNC time), lasting two hours.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will deliver the opening remarks at the plenary session. Following the statements by the heads of delegations, the meeting will continue with discussions. 

Later in the evening, President Ersin Tatar and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will hold a working dinner from 9.40pm to 10.15pm (TRNC time), after which the closing session in the 5+1 plenary will take place from 10.15pm to 11.45pm.

President Ersin Tatar is being accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, Special Representative Güneş Onar, Advisor on Legal Affairs Sülen Karabacak, Confidence Building Measures and Technical Committees Coordinator Seniha Birand Çınar, and Special Advisor for International Relations and Diplomacy, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Işıksal.

Prior to the start of the session, an official family photo was taken for the press.

President Ersin Tatar is expected to hold a press conference at the UN Headquarters at midnight (TRNC time).
