Press Advisor Aydın Akkurt

Originally from Yılmazköy, he was born in 1958 in Nicosia. After graduating from Arapahmet Primary School, he completed his secondary education in Türk Maarif College. He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Language, History and Geography in 1980. He served as Reserve Officer during his military service.
While his first columns were published in ZAMAN, he was the Editor-in-Chief of YÖN Newspaper, which was first published weekly and then daily. In 1985, his opinion columns were published in the weekly newspaper YÜRÜYÜŞ. In the meantime, his articles were published in many newspapers and magazines published both in the TRNC and abroad. He has a permanent Press Card.
His documentaries, especially ‘Migration to Freedom’, were broadcasted on local TV channels. He received many awards from the institutions and organisations both in TRNC and abroad for his services to the Turkish world. In addition to his research and documentaries, books named “The 1957-58 Struggle, the Turkish Resistance Organisation, the Documentary of a Betreyal, The Spies of Yorgacis, Collective Pieces, The Anonymous Soldiers of the Turkish War, Dr. Niyazi Manyera, Code Name Lale” were published.
Between 1992 and 2005, he served as the Press-Publication-Research-Archieve Advisor of the Founding President Rauf R. Denktaş. After 2005, he worked as the Editor-in-Chief for many years at Volkan newspaper, of which he was one of the founders and owners. In 2017, he started publishing the daily NACAK newspaper. He served as a member of the Headquarters Board of Directors in many non-governmental organisations, especially the Mujahideen Association.
He is currently serving as Press –Publication- Research- Archieve Advisor to President Ersin Tatar.
