President Ersin Tatar and First Lady Sibel Tatar meet with Günay Efendiyeva, President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation in Baku, Azerbaijan

President Ersin Tatar and First Lady Sibel Tatar met with Günay Efendiyeva, President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, who provided information about the work of the Foundation. TRNC Representative to Baku Ufuk Turganer was also present at the meeting at the foundation building in Baku.

Speaking during the meeting, President Tatar stated that he is "happy to be visiting Baku on a meaningful date for Azerbaijan" and said that the  "people of Azerbaijan have been very hospitable and welcoming to us and our delegation, and I wish to thank you all for your support to the Turkish Cypriot people and the TRNC". 

President Tatar stated that President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, expressed his support and solidarity for the Turkish Cypriot People. Referring to the 30th anniversary gala concert of TÜRKSOY, President Tatar stated that they observed the success, unity, culture and richness of the Turkic at the concert that was held that evening.

Thanking the people of Azerbaijan for their sincerity, President Tatar emphasised his belief in the motto of  "One nation, three states" and said he believes that Azerbaijan, Türkiye and TRNC can be stronger together. 

President Tatar stated that he hopes this will change the relationship between TRNC and other Turkic states, and promote solidarity and togetherness.  He said "unity and deepening of relations between Turkic states across different fields  has been enhanced following the Nakhchivan Agreement," adding that "these relations will continue to deepen gradually, with the Organisation of Turkic States". Emphasising that the TRNC and the Turkish Cypriot people are an inseparable part of the great Turkish nation, President Tatar said that the TRNC will continue on the path to taking its rightful place in the world, as more countries acknowledge the existence of the country.    

Noting that as children of the same nation, they share the same history, traditions, culture, art and ideals, President Tatar thanked Ms. Efendiyeva for her warm and sincere hospitality. 

International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation President Günay Efendiyeva  stated that these are historic days in Azerbaijan as far as TRNC is concerned and drew attention to the importance of the meeting between President Ersin Tatar and President Aliyev. Ms. Efendiyeva also pointed out that "TRNC Culture and Promotion Days" were held in Baku and she congratulated the Turkish Cypriot People wholeheartedly for the success of the organisation that was attended by near to 200 people from the TRNC and attended by officials and representatives of Azerbaijan.
