President Ersin Tatar and First Lady Sibel Tatar vote as calls are made for the public to participate in the democratic election

President Tatar: “I call on everyone to attend and vote so that the will of the people is reflected."

President Ersin Tatar and First Lady Sibel Tatar cast their votes at ballot box number 145, at Martyr Tuncer Primary School, Lefkoşa.   In a statement to the press afterwards, President Tatar called on the public to attend and vote but in compliance with the pandemic measures.


President Tatar said: “Our wish is for this important election to reflect the will of the people. In that respect, it is important for registered voters to  attend and vote at their designated ballot box, which is important for our democracy.”


President Tatar emphasised  that it is important for the correct message to be given by the Turkish Cypriot people to the world, reiterating the importance of conveying the message that Turkish Cypriots are voting as they are exercising their inherent rights to govern themselves in their own mature democracy,  in their own sovereign state.  The President said he wishes that the elections will result in a stable government, undertaking of serious reforms in the next five years and a bright more hopeful future for the people.



President Tatar thanked the candidates, their families and  everyone who contributed to the democratic process, and all press workers.
