In his speech at the opening of the forum hosted by the Directorate of Communications of the Republic of Turkey, with the theme of “Deep-rooted Past, Strong Future” President Tatar, in reference to the Cyprus issue, emphasised that he would like an agreement to be made based on the existence of two States in Cyprus with the continuation of the sovereignty of the Turkish Cypriot People. The President also said it was fundamentally important that the active and effective guarantee of Turkey be continued – which he said is very important for the Turkish Cypriots.

 

PRESIDENT TATAR CONGRATULATED AZERBAIJAN ON THE VICTORY OF KARABAKH


In his address at the opening of the forum, President Tatar thanked the organisers for organising “such a fantastic event” which has the “objective of furthering cooperation and understanding between the different countries which make up the Turkish world”.

“I am very happy to have been invited here as the President of the TRNC and for being given the opportunity to convey the issues concerning the Turkish Cypriot people with the media representatives of the Turkish world,” President Tatar said. 


President Tatar congratulated Azerbaijan on the victory of Karabakh and said: "Their victory is our victory."

While giving an award to the mother of an Azerbaijani martyr at the award ceremony last night in Ankara, the President said that he has been reminded of the years of national struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people.


 “IT IS NECESSARY TO BE STRONG AND UNITED”

Expressing that it is necessary to be strong and united for protecting the Turkish presence in this geography, the President said that the Turkish Cypriot people are the representative of the Turkish nation in the eastern Mediterranean. Referring to the past and history of Cyprus, President Tatar stated that they would like to reach sustainable peace and stability in Cyprus.


Expressing that despite the pandemic period, the Turkish Cypriot people, who are one of the two co-owners of the island with inherent rights stemming from international law and history, have been “developing and progressing over the years with the support of Motherland Turkey, and we able to look to the future with confidence”, President Tatar said.

“A settlement in Cyprus which secures sustainable peace and stability has to be based on the existence of two equal States in Cyprus and the continuation of the sovereignty of the Turkish Cypriot people,” the President said.



“OUR CAUSE IS ABOUT THE EXISTENCE OF THE TURKISH CYPRIOT PEOPLE AND FOR THE TURKISH WORLD”

 

Emphasising that the cause and struggle is for the Turkish Cypriot people and the Turkish world, President Tatar stated that he believed the unity of the Turkish world would develop with these type of events which brings together different States from the Turkish world, and added  that the TRNC “will also be a respected and important part of this organisation”.


President Tatar expressed his wishes that such successful events would be beneficial and thanked the Communications Director, Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Altun. Expressing that he also took part in the Diplomacy Forum held in Antalya, President Tatar emphasised that such organisations are important for the strengthening and unity of the Turkish world.

The opening speeches of the forum were made by the Republic of Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan via a video message,   the Republic of Turkey Communications Director Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Altun and Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev.  At the opening of the forum, Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev also made a speech.


The Forum was also attended by representatives of the Turkic Council member states Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and observer member Hungary, as well as representatives of media outlets from Turkmenistan and the TRNC, which brought together  academics, high level and senior officials, officials from public institutions,  phenomenon of social media and communication faculty students.
