President Ersin Tatar attended the Eid al-Adha (Kurban Bayramı) Prayer at the Martyr Zafer Bolkan Mosque in Alsancak, where he made a statement to the press after celebrating the auspicious occasion with members of the public.
President Tatar wished for Kurban Bayramı to be one of peace and blessings for the entire Islamic World and the Turkish nation.
President Tatar pointed out that Kurban Bayramı is “one of the most auspicious religious holidays for Muslims,” adding: “On this holiday, resentments should be left behind and we should act in the spirit of compassion, unity, and solidarity.”
President Tatar also called upon motorists to “drive with extra caution” and “adhere to the highway code and to be careful against accidents”.
Stating that the world is witnessing with great concern the developments in Gaza, the ongoing war in Ukraine and other conflicts in many parts of the world, President Tatar stressed that “Turkish Cypriots live in peace, tranquillity and security in the eastern Mediterranean, thanks to the presence of guarantor Republic of Türkiye, and the Turkish military, which is the provider of peace in Cyprus".
President Tatar expressed his condolences to those who lost their lives and hoped that the “massacre in Gaza will be stopped as soon as possible”.
President Tatar stated that the Turkish Cypriot People “have not forgotten and will never forget the Champion Angels, who lost their lives in the İsias Hotel in Adıyaman, which collapsed in the earthquakes centred in Kahramanmaraş in Türkiye,” and expressed his “condolences to the teachers, the families and all those who lost their lives in the devastating earthquakes”.
Congratulating the Eid holiday of Turkish Cypriots living in other parts of the world, President Tatar emphasised that “culture, customs and traditions should be celebrated and experienced in the best possible way during this auspicious occasion”.
