President Ersin Tatar attends the opening of Osman Keten's retrospective exhibition in Lefkoşa

President Ersin Tatar attended the opening ceremony of Osman Keten's retrospective exhibition titled “Belirlenmiş ve Şekillenmemiş Öz” at İsmet V. Güney Exhibition Hall, Lefkoşa. The exhibition was previously opened in Gazimağusa as part of the “EMU Art Days” in October.

In his speech at the exhibition, President Tatar expressed his happiness to be at the opening of the first exhibition of 2023 and expressed the significance of attaching high value to art.

The President said the Turkish Cypriot people attach great importance to culture and art despite all embargoes encountered, and that our art is shared with the whole world in a universal language through a collective struggle. It is necessary to support these valuable works, he added. 

President Tatar said “Art is one of our most effective means of overcoming all embargoes as a universal language for Turkish Cypriots and making our voice heard in the world.” He congratulated Osman Keten and everyone who contributed to the exhibition for producing such a valuable work for the Turkish Cypriot people.

The exhibition, curated by EMU Art Coordinator Zehra Şonya and written by Derya Ulubatlı and Mine Keten in the bilingual catalogue, can be visited during working hours until Friday, January 13.
